Want to know all about food labeling?
And making sure your labels comply with the latest laws and regulations? As a producer, buyer or retail organization, you are responsible for the texts on the food label and other commercial expressions, such as a website or advertisement. How do you make sure you are compliant with European and national labeling legislation? And how do you translate those legal rules into a food label that is attractive and understandable to consumers?
To answer those questions, you'll take the e-learning module "Looking in Legislation" prior to this classroom training. The e-learning is included in the training. This ensures that your basic knowledge of labeling is at the same level as the other participants at the start of the training.
During the classroom training in food labeling we alternate theoretical knowledge and background with practical exercises, so that after the training you know how the legislation works, which laws apply to you and you can be sure that you have consulted all relevant legislation. In addition to all the mandatory elements in legislation (such as naming, ingredients, allergens, KWID, nutritional value, shelf life and storage advice), various interpretations and stakeholders, such as the NVWA, industry associations, retailers and consumer organizations are also discussed. How will different parties look at your label and how do you make sure your label complies with everyone's rules?
Through many practical examples and by getting started yourself, you will be able to create or validate a legally correct label yourself using European and national labeling legislation.

- Legislation in relation to stakeholders, such as NVWA, Advertising Code Committee, industry associations and consumer groups;
- Requirements mandatory food information on prepackaged food and B2B packaging;
- Mandatory labeling information (Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011) and how to apply it on the label;
- Checking labels: how do you evaluate packaging including marketing messages (text and graphics)?
The training is interactive and hands-on. You will have the opportunity to submit specific questions in advance so that they can be addressed during the session. During the training you will learn through practical assignments how to effectively consult and apply legislation to labels.
