Food contact materials (machine parts, production tools, process equipment, but especially packaging) enjoy the attention of certification bodies and control authorities. These are increasingly looking for proof of compliance with legislation such as Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 (the framework regulation) and Regulation (EU) 10/2011 (the "plastic directive"). In practice, it is difficult to comply with this legislation; it often raises more questions than answers. The correct drafting and assessment of the Declaration of Conformity is also difficult. In addition, the assessment of the supplier documentation received requires expertise.

This Food Contact Materials training provides insight into relevant European legislation and best practices around the Declaration of Conformity and migration testing. The common thread is legislation for plastics, as this is the only common material with European regulation.
