Introduce children to nutrients in a fun way and learn to make conscious choices in the supermarket? This game teaches children which nutrients and building blocks the body needs and which products contain them. Using recognizable examples, the game teaches children to compare products and make (more) conscious choices.
It all started with a project by school students who wanted to develop a training course on healthy food choices at Précon. As a player in the food industry, Précon is eager to contribute to a more conscious society. In addition to having numerous nutritionists, let's also have the resources to create cool, interactive learning solutions in-house. The collaboration between the students and Précon's e-learning experts and nutritionists resulted in the supermarket game, which can be used by parents, schools and other institutions to help children make conscious(er) product choices. The game can be played for free by any interested party.
The game is aimed at children who are in the final years of elementary school (grades 7 and 8) and are around 10 and 11 years old. These children will soon go to high school and will more often make their own choices between different products.
At Précon, we deal with food label information on a daily basis. Information that must legally comply with all kinds of regulations. Unfortunately, many consumer responses show that this information is not well understood and explanations for correct interpretation are lacking. And who else but our children can best start with this knowledge and education? We hope through this game to contribute to the educational material available on this topic.
