As you may have heard in the media, Adobe will stop supporting Flash Player altogether at the end of 2020. Flash allows you to view animations, advertisements, videos and Web applications. Some browsers have been blocking Flash for a while, and some companies do not allow the use of Flash (anymore). This is because it poses security risks.
You may be wondering, what does Flash have to do with e-learning? Flash used to be widely used in e-learning modules. Older versions of some authoring tools (such as Articulate) even exported the entire training course as a Flash file. Flash was also often used for animations or interactive assignments.
We have noticed in recent years that companies using training courses that still contain Flash are experiencing more and more problems with them. The problem can range from an assignment not loading, or even to an entire training course not loading.
This is not always easy. With some browsers, a message pops up that Flash is blocked and whether you want to allow the use of Flash. For example, in Google Chrome. However, there are also browsers that just display a blank space without a message. You're missing something on the page, but you don't know what's going on. Below are two examples.
Have a training with Flash elements, a training built in Flash or in doubt? We can help. If it contains only a few Flash elements, they can often be recreated with a small investment. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. In that case, together we look for an alternative solution such as a custom training! Contact us at +31 30 65 66 010 or learning@precongroup.com.
