The importance of product safety.

When a consumer buys a product, he should expect it to present no danger other than what he could reasonably expect in advance. We call this general product safety. Much of the European Directives focus on ensuring consumer safety. As a consumer, you are obviously happy with this. However, your company has a job to do. After all, you are legally responsible that the product meets the safety requirements.

What responsibility your company has depends on the role you play: are you a distributor or a manufacturer? The obligations your organization has may also differ by type of product.

Our approach.

Précon has worked for many years as a quality controller for major international parties in the supply chain. We have handled and assisted in product safety for virtually all types of non-food items. We can train your employees on general product safety, product compliance management, product risk management and support your organization as needed or take the entire process off your hands.

With our expertise, we determine which obligations apply per role and type of product and how your company can comply with them. In addition, we tell you how a product may or must be marked and which instructions must be included in an instruction manual or on the packaging. Finally, we advise which warnings should be shown in online sales and which are optional. We can support you in all processes related to product safety in the EU.

Should your product prove to be unsafe to use, we are here for you. We will help draft the notification to the regulator and formulate correct text for the recall.
