Update reporting guide NVWA

The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) simplified their Unsafe Food Reporting Guide last month.

Entrepreneurs must always report (potentially) unsafe food to the NVWA within 4 hours. This applies to food that has been imported, processed, produced, delivered, transported, sold or stored. If no report is made, you are in violation. Reporting can be done 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The reporting guide can be viewed on their website. The instruction on this webpage: Reporting unsafe food | NVWA replaces the reporting guide.

The simplified reporting guide helps entrepreneurs even better determine when to report to NVWA. It is an obligation for entrepreneurs to report (potentially) unsafe food to NVWA.

For reporting in case of specific contaminations (possible exceedance of a Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) of pesticides or authorized veterinary drugs), the NVWA has prepared two specific reporting guides:

  • The decision tree MRL exceedance pesticides in food products
  • The decision tree MRL exceeding authorized veterinary drugs
