Increase safety in the workplace? Follow these 7 tips!

Safety is a hugely important issue. Unfortunately, accidents still happen every day, sometimes with major consequences. How can you ensure that you and your employees work more safely?

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

In many food factories, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. You can think about gloves, safety shoes, hearing protection and safety vests. By doing so, you increase safety for yourself and others. After all, they are there for a reason!

Do not block emergency exits

Make sure there are no products or other things blocking the emergency exit. Although it is not often that emergency exits must be used, it is vital that they are accessible in the event of an emergency.

Gathering place

Make sure everyone knows where the assembly point is. This will allow you to make sure everyone is out of the building in the event of an emergency.

Check the information board

When entering a factory site, there is often an information board with the rules of the site. Here you can often see what is prohibited on a site, for example, smoking, what protective equipment (PPE) is required and what dangers there may be, for example, forklifts driving around.

Safety Shoes

Safety shoes are there for a reason. They protect your feet. Unfortunately, it still sometimes happens that someone does not wear safety shoes in a production environment, with all the consequences that entails.

Walkways

Are there walkways in your factory? Then take advantage of them. While it may be tempting to sometimes cut off just a little, this can lead to unsafe situations. After all, a forklift doesn't expect this.

Inform and train your employees

Make sure your employees know what to look for and why they are doing it. If employees are aware of the dangers, they will work more safely. Therefore, have your employees take the "Safe to Work" e-learning. Want to know more? Check out our training page or contact us at learning@precongroup.com.
