FSSC 22000 audits against updated version 6

Last March, the updated version 6 of the FSSC 22000 standard was published. Organizations and companies had 12 months to prepare for and implement the new requirements.

Starting Monday, April 1, 2024, all FSSC 22000 audits will be audited against the new version 6. All certified organizations and companies must complete the transition to version 6 by March 31, 2025.

This updated version incorporates the latest requirements of ISO 22003-1:2022 and includes tightening requirements to support organizations in contributing to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The changes in the new version of the standard are mainly changes in:

Product categories;
Audit duration (updated to that of ISO 22003-1:2022).
- For all certified organizations, the total audit duration will be reviewed and updated according to the new rules for calculating duration. This will apply to the next scheduled regular audit (periodic or recertification);
Additional FSSC requirements in areas such as food loss and waste, environmental monitoring, validation/verification of packaging claims, quality control, equipment management, allergen management and integration of food safety and quality culture requirements.
