E-learning is a dynamic piece of technology. Therefore, Précon continues to actively invest in this as well in order to keep pushing new boundaries. This is what we expect from our e-learning in the further course of 2023.
Within an organization, there are different training needs. With e-learnings, training can be taken online and at one's own pace. By specifically offering training courses that are personalized to the needs, abilities and interests of the employees, knowledge will increase and can be applied in practice. This has a positive impact on the food safety culture of the organization. After all, knowledge of food safety prevents mistakes. By using different training methods such as e-learning, interactive on-the-job training, classroom training and videos, the employee is positively influenced to gain knowledge.
Investing in a learning management system (LMS) such as Elzi increases the employee's knowledge. This gives them new development opportunities, but also challenges them to apply their knowledge in practice. This keeps employees interested which motivates them to stay in the organization. This helps to combat the current scarcity in the labor market.
In addition, food safety standards (such as IFS or BRCGS) increasingly refer to employee training opportunities. A training plan outlines the necessary knowledge and competencies required to properly fill a particular position. The plan not only shows what training is necessary, but it provides the employee with the challenge to develop further in the organization making them feel valued within the organization.
Training can also be customized specifically for your organization. For example, specific procedures or practical illustrations can be added to the training, or an entirely new training course can be developed upon request.
Customization combined with the increasingly popular 360° photos, give the student the ability to recreate very specific situations. This allows them to apply what they have learned in one situation to a new situation. This is the so-called near transfer in the trainee.
Using the 360° photos, the student can digitally navigate the real working environment. Additionally, clickable or draggable materials, texts or situations can be added. This allows the student to digitally practice certain actions in very specific situations. This way, situations no longer need to be created in practice in order to practice.
A good example is the application of cleaning and disinfection in a production area. By navigating step-by-step through the room via texts and clickable objects, the employee gets a good idea of the operations to be performed.
Not only has the corona pandemic positively influenced the growth of e-learning, but today's lifestyle demands more mobile learning applications. By increasingly offering training on the move, the learner is not tied to a specific time or location. Moreover, this saves valuable time and money. Via tablets and smartphones, the trainings can be followed at the moment that suits the trainee and the production process. In this way, continuous production can be guaranteed.
Also, the capabilities of mobile devices are increasingly used in e-learning. Therefore, Précon also continues to invest in these applications. For example, QR codes can be used to provide on-site training in the company. By scanning a QR code, employees are shown an instructional video or work instruction. Augmented reality can also be used. This is an application where a digital image is overlaid on top of the camera image from a smartphone or tablet. Thus, additional digital information is added to the real environment.
Mobile learning allows employees to learn more flexibly. It also gives employees new and especially more visual opportunities to learn. In this way, we hope to find a suitable learning method for trainees with different training needs and thus match the training plan. We do this by using our own LMS Elzi.
Elzi is a user-friendly online tool, where all our e-learnings and trainings are available. This clear platform makes organizing, training and registering easy. Moreover, we continue to continuously invest in our LMS Elzi to push boundaries each time. Thanks to our hard work, Elzi has had several updates:
