Claims on food products are and remain a hot topic of discussion

Claims on food are and remain a hot topic. For example, in 2023 the NVWA scrutinized 54 products that contained a protein claim, such as 'high-protein' or 'source of protein'. Almost half of the products did not comply with the rules, and this resulted in warnings and fines for the companies concerned.

In addition to nutrition and health claims, sustainability claims are also under a magnifying glass. For example, two Dutch supermarket chains recently removed sustainability claims after being reprimanded by the Consumer and Market Authority. The claims were not properly substantiated and in some cases outdated.

Claims, labels and advertising

The label or website is the place to advertise your product. But what can and cannot you claim? And what rules apply to the use of the various labels? To be able to answer these questions well, follow the training Claims, labels and advertising on food products. Register for the training on September 5.
