Food safety culture at Vivera.
What is the trigger?
Vivera wants more attention to food safety. That is why they are organizing meetings. In addition, they have indicated to Précon that a training course is needed for 15 department managers and team leaders. This training should bring about a change in thinking and acting. The participants learn what is expected of a manager in the food industry so that they recognize and address areas for improvement. They also learn how to motivate their team to change.
Improve through culture sessions.
In three sessions, Précon took department managers and team leaders through the process of improving food safety culture. Because management did not participate but had already drafted a manifesto, the MT was informed about the sessions in advance and two MT members attended an evaluation after each session. There are approximately 3 weeks between sessions each time.
Evaluatively, it was good to sit down with this group and be able to communicate openly and honestly about what needs to be improved and how difficult this actually is for everyone. It turned out that everyone was running into issues, but that this is actually never talked about. After the first session there was a clear need to "but tell me how to achieve this?".
Session 2: How then?
When session 2 dealt with "How to do it?" you could see the pieces of the puzzle falling into place and the relief that it was quite realistic. The points for improvement from session 1 were worked out in groups into a realistic plan of action.
Finally, there is the evaluation session where the good, but also the difficult issues are discussed openly and honestly. Attention is paid to setting up a working method to implement this in daily practice, so that it really becomes part of the company.
One year later
More than a year after conducting the culture sessions, an evaluation was done with Vivera. This shows that during the periodic meetings, the team leaders communicate openly and honestly about the things that are going well and the things that need improvement. The food safety culture has continued to improve!

About the company.
Vivera is calling on everyone to join the Goodness Movement. The more people join and eat less meat, the better it is for the world. They do this by making plant-based products that taste and bite just as good as meat. All this to make the switch to plant-based eating as easy as possible.
